Walking the Way of Love

The Episcopal Church blends modern insight with tradition, seeking to use the best of both in ways that bear fruit. One ancient tradition that transcends time and place is the Rule of Life. It is not a list of rules–things that must or must not be done or else there will be punishment. It is a pattern that improves daily life when you follow it–like ruled paper, or a carpenter’s yardstick. It is a tool for people who want to live well and keep some important things in mind. We invite you to explore a modern Rule of Life: the Way of Love.

It’s easier to keep something in mind when it’s brief. The Way of Love can be summarized in seven words: Turn; learn; pray; worship; bless; go; rest. Each of these words refers to a practice that helps you to live a Jesus-centered life.

The Way of Love may be followed wherever you are. It is open to anyone. With practice, it becomes second nature. Start simply, and explore as deeply as you feel the need.
