Coming Events (Updated: 5/11/2026)

Sunday, May 17: ROGATION SUNDAY
10:00 a.m.: Communion from Reserved Sacrament
Rogationtide is an ancient Christian festival that honors the land and our connection to it. We observe Rogation Sunday at St. James by planting flowers and praying for good harvests for all. Everyone is welcome to join in. Dirt may be involved, so dress accordingly!

Sunday, May 24: PENTECOST
10:00 a.m.: Holy Eucharist, Rite II
Pentecost is the birthday of the Church all over the world. At St. James we celebrate with joyous hymns. Red is the traditional color, so feel free to wear red on this day.

Sunday, May 31: TRINITY SUNDAY
10:00 a.m.: Holy Eucharist, Rite II
We celebrate the awe-inspiring mystery of the nature of God each year on the first Sunday after Pentecost. Come with your thinking caps on; as Cat Faber writes, “the profoundest act of worship is to try to understand.”

Worshiping With Us Safely
It is possible for us to gather together only if we care for one another as Christ commands. Please be mindful of fellow worshipers who are in fragile health or caring for someone in fragile health. Keep your vaccinations and boosters up to date. If you were recently sick or if you are caring for someone who is sick, please wear a mask or consider staying home this Sunday. If you feel unwell, please contact St. James clergy for individual pastoral attention and stay home.

Home Worship If You Can’t Attend In Person
Thank you to Fr. Chip and Rev. Elsa for this information.

The Bishop has requested that all Episcopalians who are able to do so join in saying the Service for Noonday, which is on page 103 of The Book of Common Prayer. Remember as you pray at home that Christians all over Alaska, indeed all over the world, are praying with you.

If you do not have a Book of Common Prayer at home, you can read it online here: https://episcopalchurch.org/files/book_of_common_prayer.pdf

We often offer Zoom participation in our worship services. To get notifications and Zoom access information, as well as other notices of coming events at St. James, email our office with “Please Add Me to Email List” in the subject line. (Note: If you participate via Zoom, please mute your microphone while singing along.)

Here is a list of Episcopalian congregations offering livestreamed services. Go to the addresses listed to find out more.
